Recently databricks added some “soft” improvements, making databricks more user-friendly (and Excel-friendly), let’s deep dive into these improvements.

Drag files to Genie

You can now drop files to Genie AI and start talking about them.

I see an example use case: You have orders in the database, load Excel with a list of marketing campaigns, and ask Genie to filter or join orders based on some criteria. Currently, CSV and XLSX are supported. I hope that list will be successfully extended (I hope for JSON and parquet most).

Now, we can preview text files in volumes (including JSON and CSVs) and images. The list will also be extended in the future to include more file types. I especially like the JSON preview.
